Lit on 02/02/2007 Lit by Annie Grindstaff I miss and love you so much Dad ~Clifton Posey~ A great man, husband and dad. Dad was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on December 2, 1930 and passed away on April 20, 2005 in Columbus, Indiana.
He married Bessie Jane Curry (http://bessie-posey.last-memories.com/index.php) in Iuka, Miss. on October 4 1948. They have six children: Vickie Reynolds, Clifton Posey Jr., Patricia Rice, Lonnie Posey, Janice Wood, and Annie Grindstaff. They also have twelve grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Dad was a hard worker all his life until his very last breath. Dad found out he had cancer in August 2004. However, that didn't stop dad he kept right on fighting and making the best of what time he had left. For thats something Clifton Posey was not and that was a quitter. That word was not in his vocabulary. Dad worked as a bricklayer for many years for Dunlap & Co. Also was a member of the bricklayers union. Dad enjoyed many things in his life, but the thing he loved the most was being outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and doing gardening. There wasn't a flower or vegetable that he couldn't grow. He loved to grow sunflowers there was always a row growing at the side of the house every year as tall as the roof.
The garden wow dad could grow about anything. People would stop and admire the garden and ask if he would like to sell the tomatoes or peppers. He would always say " Ah no... here let me go inside and get ya a sack. " Sure enough he would fill up the sack and give 'em some. He would get compliments on top of compliments about what he grew. He also enjoyed feeding the birds and sittin at the dining room table and watching 'em fly in to eat. I remember dad saying he loved the cardinals but exspecially the hummingbirds they would always fasinate him how their wings would just flutter so fast. Of course, there wasn't a summer night that went by that you didn't go by that dad and mom wasn't glued to the tv watching a baseball game. It was fun they would go back and forth at one another cause mom would always cheer for the Reds and dad always would cheer for the Cubs / Braves. There was never a dull moment in that house. Always filled with laughter and Stories. When you walked thru the door the smell of a down home southern meal. Beans w/ ham and fried potatoes and cornbread with a big slab of onion. Hmm can't forget about dads famous chicken /rabbit stew. If your nose led ya to the kitchen you knew who was in there cooking. DAD! Wow we sure had some good times there. Dad always believed in family get togethers cookouts or big dinners or on the holidays there were always twenty or thirty of us getting around at mom and dads ...laughing and "shootin the shit"
as dad would say...dad had his own way of saying things thats what made dad who he was Dad didnt' put up a front , if ya didn't like him for who he was ...head on out the door and down the road...but thats just it anyone who knew dad loved him dad knew no strangers and had no enemies. He would speak to everyone and help anyone who was in need. If he had a dollar we all had a dollar. Thats just who he was. The refrigerator door was always open to whom ever walked in if you left that house hungry it was your own fault cause he would welcome a stranger to his dinner table. Clifton Posey wasn't only my dad he was my bestest friend in the world , my buddy and my hero. Me and dad would always sit at the dining room table and talk about all sorts of things from politics to what kinda bait to use to go catfishing. I will always remember those times. I will never look up to another man as I did him. I learned alot from all those talks we had and i'll never forget him . Thats why i'm so proud to call Clifton Posey my dad. I can also say me and dad shared something that no one can take away, On February 21,2005 we got saved, Dad was in the hospital battling with his cancer and he recieved a visit from Rev. Burt Powell. He spoke to us about it and dad and I decided to welcome God into our lives. That was and will always be something special to me and no one can take away. Although, he's not here with us right now. He will never be forgotten for some day we will all be together again. Until then he remains in our hearts ....We love and miss you Dad!!
~Remember Me~ Remember me when flowers bloom Early in the spring Remember me on sunny days In the fun that summer brings
Remember me in the fall As you walk through the leaves of gold Remember me in the wintertime In the stories that are told
But most of all remember each day Right from the start I will be forever near For I live within your heart
A Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that god was goin to call your name In life we loved you dearly In death we do the same
It broke our hearts to lose you you did not go alone for part of us went with you the day god called you home
You left us peaceful memories your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you you are always at our side
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same but as god calls us one by one the chain will link again
We love and miss you dearly dad theres not one moment that doesn't go by that your not in our thoughts...But one day we'll all be together again until then we're missing you... love always, Bessie, Vickie, Cliff Jr. Patty, Lonnie, Janice, & Annie jo

Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a daddy I'm just as blessed as I can be for the worlds best dad belongs to me The greatest gift I ever had came from god I call him dad Dads are the treasures of the world Dad dreams, he plans, he struggles that we might have the best, His sacrifice is quiet his life is love expressed, For always being there to care always tryin to be fair, for every piece of good advice for every quiet sacrifice most of all for being you Thanks dad I love ya!!
I still hear the songs I still see the lights I still feel your love On cold wintry nights

We Love & Miss you so much Dad....
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through. God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you. It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on. There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man." God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight. God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years, because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before. There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain; Then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain." And now I am contented....that my life was worthwhile. Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile. So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low; Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street and you've got Me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free. Remember you're not going..... you're coming here to Me

My First Christmas In Heaven I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below with tiny lights, like Heaven's stars reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular. Please wipe away the tear For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year. I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear But the sounds of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here. I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring. For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing. I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart. But I am not so far away We really aren't apart. So be happy for me, dear ones, You know I hold you dear, And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year. I sent you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above, of my undying love. After all, love is a gift more precious than pure gold. It was always most important In the stories Jesus told. Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do. For I can't count the blessing or the love He has for each of you. So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear. Remember, I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
We thought of you with love today. But that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday. And days before that too. We think of you in silence. We often speak your name. Now all we have is memories. And your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake. With which we'll never part. God has you in his keeping. We have you in our heart..

Road To Eternity
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
To sweet Eternity. We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things, But never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know, For some the journey’s quicker,
For some, the journey’s slow.
But when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.
